Dandelion Foundation Endowed Scholarship

Dandelion Foundation Endowed Scholarship

The Dandelion Foundation Endowed Scholarship was created in 2021 by Doug S. Andelin, a 1987 graduate of ArtCenter’s Illustration program. This merit scholarship rewards students in the Illustration and Fine Art departments, and was created with a desire to celebrate and promote both diversity and excellence at the College.

Doug is a widely known Bay Area artist whose work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions since 1987. For Doug, painting serves as an opportunity to become an observer of forces much greater than himself and to experience humility through his greatest teacher—nature. For this reason, he chooses to work directly from life, posing inquiries about perception, time, space, and his identity as an artist. When standing alone, he strives to shift his focus away from himself and listen to the world outside. His aim is to shed what he knows and reach into the paint to grasp a new honesty. Doug is constantly engaged in a balancing act between searching and forgetting, asking and listening, and navigating between conscious and unconscious thoughts. Learn more about Doug Andelin here!
