Douglas R. Burrows Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Douglas R. Burrows Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 1994 to provide financial support to students studying in the Photography & Imaging Program.
This scholarship was created by the family, friends and professional associates of Doug Burrows in loving memory of his kindness, his unwavering optimism and his compassionate nature. This scholarship is intended to continue the positive influence of Doug’s life by providing financial assistance to eligible photography students, with a preference for those whose photographic work and personal actions best embody the humanitarian ideals which Doug Burrows perpetuated in his life and work.
Douglas R. Burrows was a 1989 graduate of ArtCenter. He was a 29-year-old free-lance photographer who worked extensively for the Los Angeles Times and Newsweek magazine when he was killed in a hit-and-run accident in downtown LA in 1993. ArtCenter had a huge impact on Doug’s education and career as a photographer, said his father, who was moved by the outpouring of support from the ArtCenter community.
