Samuel W. Collins Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Samuel W. Collins Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Samuel W. Collins Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established in 2012 by John and Lorna Seals, and William Collins (BS 64 Merchandising Design) in honor of the latter’s late brother, Samuel. This scholarship supports students in the Environmental Design (now Spatial Experience Design) program.

John Seals offers these words of encouragement to ArtCenter students:

I decided at 13 to be an architect, but after 2.5 yeas in architecture school (Georgia Tech) I was not satisfied with the curriculum. Then I met a recent ArtCenter alum and knew immediately it was the school for me. I had no idea how hard I would have to work; basic training in the army was a picnic compared to Art Center. But graduation gave me several things: first, that I could compete (confidence) in any situation; second, that I had the skills and talent as good as anyone; and third I had the opportunity and responsibility to use those talents: don’t hide your candle under a basket.
