Siras Greiner Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The Siras Greiner Memorial Endowed Scholarship was originally established in 1997 to celebrate the life of Siras Greiner. This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate Graphic Design or Creative Direction students with financial need whose work exemplifies Siras’ spirit of innovation, experimental work and openness to different approaches to creation and fabrication.
In the words of those who knew her best: "Siras Greiner was passionate about work— hers and everybody else’s. As a mentor, her generosity was unconditional. She shared her opinions, her talent, her humor and herself. She had a way of coaxing excellence out of people— maybe just by the example she set. She inspired you to do your best. And she made it incredibly fun. Siras Mariko Greiner died August 1, 1997 in a car accident at the age of 31. Ms. Greiner was born in Point Richmond. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Los Angeles. She later helped her father, physicist Doug Greiner of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, start a Zen community in Berkeley. She worked as a designer for Apple, the Gap, Nike and various charities, and was finally employed as a creative director at CKS Partners in San Francisco.
We hope the Siras Greiner Memorial Fund will help pass her spirit on to a new generation."
